Pink, Polka Dots, and Shiny Shoes

This is a good day for Alexis! A couple of days a year, the kids at her school have a theme day when they don't have to wear their uniform. Well, today's theme was Polka dots and Stripes day. Perfect, because that means she can wear pink. That has been one of the hardest things for her about school--can't wear pink. So, I saw this cute idea in a magazine to sew a t-shirt on to fabric for a skirt and I spent yesterday putting this together for today. It didn't turn out exactly the way I wanted it to, but she liked it and that's all that matters. And since she could wear any kind of shoes (as long as they are closed toe) she chose her pink, shiny shoes! She was so excited this morning, can you tell? Today actually made me thankful for uniforms. Don't get me wrong, I love to see her so joyful and all, but if she was able to wear what she wanted to everyday, we would be drenched in pink dresses, and the battles we would have--goodness! But for today, we celebrate pink, polka dots, and shiny shoes! I love that sweet, happy face!!!

P.S. Kevin pointed out to me yesterday that my wording on the last blog entry (day off) may have misleaded you all into thinking that he never "hangs" out with us, and that we were all "priveleged" by him taking a day off. And when I look back at that I laugh, because it does sort of sound that way. So, just so you all know, Kevin hangs with us quite often, anytime he is home, in fact! It's just rare that he gets a day off! Sorry, Kev!
